This interactive animation illustrates a wide variety of techniques to while away the time whilst waiting for a bus. Of course it doesn't need to be a bus you could be waiting for a train, waiting for a doctor, a dentist or your hairdresser. It could be that you are just intent on idling away the hours either way this will add to your arsenal of time wasting techniques.
You could stratch your head whilst waiting for the bus. That takes up about 10 seconds. Then you could scratch your shoulders. Well you could scratch 10 different parts of your body. If you did that ten times then the fidgeting could even take up ten minutes of time. Ten minutes is a good time to waste if you live in the city as the buses are fairly frequent. But if you live in the countryside then you will need a few more things as the buses probably don't come for an hour or so.
Try standing on one foot for as long as you can. You can make this more competitive by timing yourself. If you find it too easy try extending your leg or even closing your eyes. If that is still too easy then you could hold something really heavy in your left hand, there maybe someone in the bus line who has a bag of heavy shoping, try that.
I Spy has been a popular way of passing time throughout the ages. The version in this interactive animation has a unique twist in that you have to spy different types of computer virus'. I Spy has never been much of a game of solitaire as you can all too easily guess what you have just thought. If you don't have any friends and would still like to play then click on the I Spy section and play yourself.
This is the technique of keeping a football in the air without the ball touching the floor. You cn use any part of your body to keep the ball in the air. Unless you are a professional football player it is unlikely that you will have a football with you whilst waiting at a bus stop. Try using your head! In this version the isotype man uses his head as a football. This makes it more difficult as the isotype man can not use his head to keep the ball in the air as his head is the ball.
Most of the techniques for passing the time have little merit in themselves other than means of passing the time with the least amount of irritation. Making a list of things to do is quite a useful technique to while away the minutes until the bus comes because it can be very useful. You may want to make a list of things you have to do when you arrive at the end of the journey. This will save you valuable time when you arrive at your destination as you will be prepared and ready to deal with any tasks you may have to do.
